Chromecast + PopCorn = You’ll love it

You’ll thinking that this article is not related with SharePoint or other Microsoft technologies, but how in summer I have enough time to try new “toys”, I would like to share my experience with them.

First of all, if you don’t know what Popcorn Time it is, is a cool entertainment video streaming program you will definitely enjoy. With the latests releases, you can even enjoy more with the support of streaming the video to your big TV through Google Chromecast. Also for those people that love to wath movies or tv series in VO, is it possible o include subtitles in many languages.

First of all, you will need the latest version of Popcorn Time installed. At least, you will need the version 3.5.3 to be able to stream through Chromecast.

Then launch the program, pick a movie you want to watch, click the little up arrow with a popcorn icon at the bottom of the window next to Watch Now button. If you have a live, ready to stream Chromecast ready, you will see it on the list.

Then click Watch Now, sit back and enjoy.

If this is your first time using Popcorn Time on your computer, you probably won’t have any issue. Movies will be streaming to your big TV through Chromecast very smoothly. However, if you have used any of the previous versions before, you may encounter some issues where videos are not streaming through.

That’s probably because of your Firewall settings on your Windows blocking it. Here is a quick and easy way to fix it.

Go to Control Panel → System and Security → Windows Firewall, and click Restore defaults to reset all your Windows Firewall settings, including Popcorn Time.

Once all settings are reset and you relaunch the program, you will be prompted a Firewall warning message asking your permission to allow Popcorn Time to go through your Firewall. Check Private Networks, and click Allow Access and you will be all good.

Note that resetting your Firewall may have some effects to your other programs. If you are worried about this, you can go to Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall, and remove Popcorn Times from the allow list.

Hope you enjoy it!
